JAS Projects and JAS Sweden are proud to share an exciting achievement in heavy transport, executed deep in northern Sweden near the Polar Circle. This unique project involves the movement of oversized cargo through challenging winter conditions, where temperatures plummet as low as minus 15 degrees Celsius.
The cargos dimensions are impressive:
Transporting such massive loads requires meticulous planning, technical expertise, and flawless teamwork—all of which were on full display as our team worked tirelessly to ensure safe and efficient delivery through the icy terrain.
Luiz Dos Santos, Project Coordinator at JAS Projects, accompanied the operation and shared his firsthand experience. For Luiz, this was his first opportunity to be on-site for a heavy-lift transport, and it proved to be both thrilling and educational:
"A thrilling mission in the far north. I accompanied the heavy transport from start to finish through the icy winter landscape of northern Sweden. It was an extraordinary and impressive experience to see the required precision and flawless teamwork with my own eyes. The execution, as well as the planning, are significantly more complex than they often appear from the desk. So, it was all the more helpful to have experienced the entire process firsthand."
This operation is a testament to the team's commitment to excellence, even in extreme environments. From intricate planning to navigating unpredictable Arctic conditions, the success of this transport highlights our ability to deliver solutions tailored to every challenge.

While a tentative agreement was reached in October 2024 to extend the Master Contract until January 15, 2025, key issues are still under negotiation, raising concerns about potential port disruptions.
Despite ongoing efforts to reach a resolution, the risk of disruption is increasing as the deadline approaches, though the situation remains dynamic.

Carrier Surcharges:
Proactively, several carriers, including CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, and ZIM, have announced the implementation of surcharges due to the potential for labor disruptions:
As the deadline draws near, it is anticipated that all carriers will implement similar surcharges. As we continue to monitor developments, JAS as well reserves the right to activate the BWL congestion surcharges should any actions be taken by the ILA.

About International Airfreight Associates B.V.
International Airfreight Associates B.V. is a trusted provider of airfreight logistics services with headquarters in the Netherlands and additional operations in Germany. With nearly 100 employees across four locations, including Amsterdam, Aalsmeer, Rotterdam, and Frankfurt, the company specializes in moving perishable goods and delivering tailored logistics solutions for a diverse range of clients.
Seaports are critical components of the global transport system. JAS is present with our own port terminals at every port in Norway as well as via our partners in countries around the globe. This provides a global network of opportunities for our customers with the ability to meet all types of international inquiries. With convenient port locations, it is only a short distance from ships to land-based logistics functions.
We have a close relationship with large industrial suppliers and ship owners and operate as agents for the largest feeder companies. We offer loading and discharging of bulk loads, tankers, and container vessels, and quayside storage provides direct access to container ships and marine vessels. This is available from both our own and our clients’ quays. In addition, our experienced team members can provide all services related to the stuffing, stripping, securing, and packaging of goods in containers.
All Norway ports have container depots and dedicated staff with broad experience in terminal operations. Our teams of qualified service engineers oversee the maintenance and repair of all containers, ensuring they are ready to be loaded and shipped. We provide daily stock- and movement-reports, and always have the right equipment available at the right time.
We offer a cross-docking solution that keeps your goods moving. The storage time is significantly reduced, or eliminated, as the goods are distributed directly to the customer. The goods are received through an inbound dock, separated, mixed as required, and directly transferred to the outbound dock. This is a convenient solution for temperature-controlled goods that must be transported quickly or already packaged and sorted goods.
One of the most important things in port logistics is personal service. We put the customers first, solving their problems by providing customized solutions and around-the-clock customer service with flexible and reliable processes.
